How to conclude a war? How to win peace? After more than 50 years of armed struggle, after three failed peace processes, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, better known as the FARC, are preparing to disarm and take the path of political struggle. After all these years in the jungle, the 8000 people in the revolutionary group are seriously considering to end a war with a government that has now also decided to find a political outcome. In Havana, a delegation of the movement is engaged in peace talks with government officials. Faced with this process, the Colombian public opinion feels conflicting emotions: exhaustion, disgust, anger, resentment, rancor against various civil and military groups whose manipulation and perverse clashes pushed the country to horror.
The film will chronicle the transition from war to peace, in a crucial historical moment. Beyond standard reporting and investigation, director Natalia Orozco’s approach will also be intimate. While disapproving the way the struggle went, she does share the aspirations that motivated the commitment of the FARC activists. She is therefore in a good position and has the right distance, to understand their doubts, fears and illusions.
